Bradshaw House 1994 |
The Owners wanted a new home but still wanted old world charm. The house was designed to fit into a 100’ width lot with a side entry garage and over 3800 square feet of living area. With simple additive massing the chopped up roof was more easily done, without complicating the structural system. This house was built when the notorious stucco scare was in the media everywhere, so even though the owners wanted a stucco look they were not willing to use the synthetic stucco products at the time. The solution was to use 8 x 4 x 16 split face concrete blocks with rough flush mortar joints, then to paint the blocks with masonry paint. |
